Society & Environment
All students enrolled at Morley SHS complete studies in Society & Environment during Years 8, 8 and 10.
The Year 8 Course offers students the study of Earth and its People. The topics studied include –
- The Solar System focusing on Planet Earth
- Regions in Asia
- Ancient civilisation and their decline
- Technology as a vehicle for change.
The Year 9 Course has a focus on the Effective Citizen and Australian Studies. The topics studied cover –
- The Consumer - choices in financial management
- Citizenship - government, law and the justice system
- Aboriginal Studies
- Discovery and Settlement of Australia
- Australian Landscapes
The Year 10 Course concludes with the emphasis on Living in a Global World.
In this course students conduct research across a variety of topics, such as –
- The World, a Global Village
- Ecosystems, Biomes, Sustainable Living and Human Impacts.
- Economic Systems, Globalisation
- Australia's International Trade and Growth, including sustainablility
- International Conflict and World Peace
- Social Issues, public opinion and survey development.
Senior Students – Years 11 and 12 select studies from the following areas –
- Economics
- Geography
- History
- Politics and Legal Studies
- Aspects of Tourism
These courses will be introduced from 2007 and will suit the needs
- Work Studies
