Health & Physical Education
Students in years 8, 9 & 10 participate in a skills based program of activities providing the opportunity to develop their skills, through a wide selection of physical activities.
The Year 8 Health and Physical Education programme provides student with one third of the time allocated to the school’s nationally recognised Health Education Programme. The remainder of the programme focuses on Physical Education with an emphasis on skills and confidence development.
The Year 9 Health Education Course includes -
- Knowledge, attitude and skills of personal and social health.
- Analysing issues including drug awareness and alcohol.
- Perspectives in personal relationships.
The Year 10 Health Education Course examines issues relating to -
- Examination of issues relative to society today.
- Strategies to use in accepting responsibility for their own
- health and well-being
- Examination of the drug problem in society and possible solutions.
- Avoidance strategies for heart disease, cancer and sexually transmissible disease.
Recreational Course:
Students may elect to participate in activities which include –
- Archery, roller skating, ten pin bowling golf, indoor cricket
- Health club, surf board riding and martial arts.
